Salt of this Sea worldwide screening listings
IMEU, Nov 15, 2008

After screening at this year's Cannes Film Festival in May, Palestinian American filmmaker Annemarie Jacir's debut feature Salt of this Sea continues to be screened at a variety of locations worldwide.

Palestinian American poet Suheir Hammad stars as Soraya, born in Brooklyn in a working class community of Palestinian refugees.

Stubborn, passionate and determined to reclaim what is hers, she fulfills her life-long dream of "returning" to Palestine after discovering that her grandfather's savings were frozen in a bank account in Jaffa when he was exiled in 1948.

Once there, slowly she is taken apart by the reality around her and - as she is forced to confront her own anger - she realizes the walls in Palestine are not always visible.

The IMEU provides a comprehensive list of confirmed upcoming screenings of this groundbreaking film - the first feature film from a female Palestinian director.

The official trailor for Salt of this Sea can be viewed below.
