All crossings between Israel and the West Bank will close for four days over the Jewish New Year, the Israeli army announced Tuesday. Crossings will close between midnight on 7 September and midnight on 11 September, a military statement said. The civil administration would coordinate the passage of medical personnel, NGO workers, and lawyers, the statement added, and those requiring medical attention would be allowed to cross into Israel. According to the statement, special arrangements would be made to accommodate the Muslim holiday Eid Al-Fitr, which coincides this year with the Jewish holiday. The statement said the closure was "in accordance with security assessments adopted by the defense establishment." Similar restrictions were imposed on the West Bank during Israeli holidays in the past.
